"Taking Care" - Navigating the HealthySF System for Artists

with Michael Baxter, MSW, San Francisco Department of Public Health

It's a fact: artists are at at a greater risk of falling through the cracks when it comes to health coverage.  Artists make up a higher percentage of the uninsured than the general population, and many are self-employed without traditional health insurance.  The recent passings of beloved SF Open Studios artists Pico Sanchez and Tom Fowler remind us too well of this reality.  San Francisco has many programs that are built to help, but the application process can often be complicated and overwhelming.  Michael Baxter, MSW, from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, will join us to discuss the ins and outs of applying for Healthy San Francisco.  Topics to be covered include who is eligible, where to apply, what kind of documentation is needed, and which clinics to request.  Following will be a lengthy Q&A discussion.  Keep our art community strong.  Make your health a priority in 2011.

Free for all participants.

Due to space constraints, the workshop is full.
